American Electric Vehicles Company Fisker To Open Headquarters In India
American electric vehicle startup company Fisker is going to start production in India. The company is ready to make Hyderabad its headquarters. Along with this, Fisker also plans to locally manufacture and sell Pier Electric Vehicles. The company aims to set up a plant for software and virtual development of EVs in India.
Mainly this plant will be focused on software development, embedded electronics, machine learning, virtual vehicle development, data analytics. The company’s headquarters in Hyderabad will work directly with Fisker engineers in California (USA). Fisker will be named Fisker Science Private Limited in India.
At present, Fisker has 450 employees in India and is in the process of recruiting an additional 200 employees. The company’s CEO Henrik Fisker said, “We are going to expand in India with a strategy. That’s why we have already started the local recruitment process. Soon the team will be ready in Hyderabad.”
Henrik Fisker added, “Indian talent will support us in launching Fisker Ocean and Fisker Pier here.” Let us tell you that Fisker can start production of its flagship Ocean electric SUV from this November. The car has already received over 40,000 bookings across the world even before production.
The Ocean is set to be Fisker’s first electric SUV, which will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Austria. The Ocean SUV is believed to come in three trims with two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive in different variants. The front-wheel-drive Ocean Sport could be the entry-level trim with a power of 275hp and a range of 403 kms.
The company claims that the entry-level model of the Ocean SUV will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.9 seconds. At the same time, its fastest trim will be able to achieve a speed of 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds.
