A purported video of the Gorakhnath temple assault accused, Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, has surfaced on social media during which the 29-year-old Bombay IIT-graduate is heard saying that he took the step as a result of he felt that Muslims have been being harassed. He talked about CAA-NRC and Karnataka.
The video, during which Abbasi is proven sitting with a bandaged hand, seems to have been shot by police throughout his questioning.
Abbasi, a resident of Gorakhpur, is within the custody of Anti-Terrorism Squad of UP Police and is being saved on the ATS headquarters in Lucknow.
The audio within the purported clip will not be clear. Abbasi is heard saying that after buying a khurpi (a sharp-edged software), he took a tempo to succeed in Gorakhnath temple gate the place police have been deployed. He can also be heard saying that he got here to Gorakhpur from Nepal.
In one other video, Abbasi is heard saying that after policemen got here to his home, he fled to Nepal.
Speaking to mediapersons, Additional Director General (Law & Order) Prashant Kumar stated that he had stated earlier that there was a giant conspiracy behind the incident. “Police are looking into all the aspects of the case. All the allegations made by the accused will be verified during the probe,” he stated.
On the psychological situation of Abbasi, Kumar stated, “If the accused claims so, we will get a psychological assessment done by experts as per norms.”
On Sunday evening, Abbasi attacked PAC personnel deployed on the gate of the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur and injured two policemen.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the top priest of the temple.
