Sanjay Yadav was born on Wednesday, May 10, 1995 (Age 25 years; Until 2020), In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. His full name is Ramsingh Sanjay Yadav. Native zodiac sign Taurus. In the year 2000, when Sanjay was 5 years old, his family migrated to Hosur, the industrial city of Tamil Nadu in search of better employment opportunities. He attended Maharishi Vidya Mandir School till 2010 and later attended RV Government Men’s High School in Hosur later in his schooling. He played tennis ball cricket at his school and was invited to play in various cricket matches around Chennai. Sanjay’s father is a daily wage laborer and the only person who brings food to the table for his family. Due to the poor financial situation of his family, Sanjay did not want to take up cricket professionally. However, his cricket coach, Prem Nath, noticed his special talent and asked him to join his Future India Cricket Academy in Hosur. The coach was aware of Sanjay’s financial situation, so he allowed him to train at his academy without charging any fees from Sanjay. His cricketing prowess earned him a place at Loyola College, Chennai, where he studied BSc (Statistics) from 2015 to 2018. Later, his all-round performance in various domestic matches, including the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), gave him great exposure. And secured his first IPL contract with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2017.

Until Sanjay got his first IPL contract in 2017, his father Ram Singh Yadav worked as a daily wage painter. Sanjay’s mother Maya Devi is a housewife. Sanjay’s brother Sonu Yadav is also a cricketer playing in local cricket leagues in Tamil Nadu.

Sanjay’s tough batting skills in district level cricket helped him to sign a contract with VB Tiruvallur Veerans to play in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2017.
Following that, he was included in the Tamil Nadu T20 squad for the 2017 inter-state Twenty20 tournament, and on 3 February 2017, played his first T20 match for Tamil Nadu against Kerala in Chennai. Due to his all-round performance in the TNPL 2017 and inter-state T20 tournament, he secured his first IPL contract with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of IPL 2017 for Rs 10 lakh. However, he did not receive. Play a match throughout the season.
The Tamil Nadu T20 team was well-placed with plenty of spin bowling all-rounders in their squad, which resulted in very few matches for Sanjay to play. Seeing this, Sanjay started playing for the Meghalaya cricket team. On 9 December 2019, Sanjay made his debut for Meghalaya in a solid Ranji Trophy match against Nagaland, in which he took 9 wickets and scored 61 runs. His bowling, which took 9 for 52, was the third best bowling performance by an Indian in first-class cricket history.
Sanjay took 55 wickets for 603 runs in his first Ranji Trophy season. This is the second highest number of all-round performances by a cricketer in Ranji Trophy history. Since then, he has played in many matches for Meghalaya and has shown his prowess in both batting and ball. Sanjay’s activities in domestic cricket caught the attention of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who later bought him for Rs 20 lakh at an IPL player auction before IPL 2020.
